Course Description

This face-to-face module is designed to follow on from Art for Starters: Drawing. It combines mood, atmosphere and a sense of place with an exploration into the world of colour, tone, shape and form. During this course you will be encouraged to investigate the creative effects of painting using acrylics and discover a range of techniques while practising colour mixing and theory. It is suitable for beginners and those who have not painted in acrylic before. Drawing skills will be taught alongside painting skills.

Syllabus

  • Introduction to Acrylics, opaque painting
  • Still Life: drawing with paint
  • Colour mixing from three primary colours
  • Colour wheels and colour mixing from randomly chosen reds
  • Evaluative skills
  • Bias of colours, complementary and local colour
