Course Description

Since its emergence in the Art world in the early part of the twentieth century collage has continued to serve not only as a primary form of expression but also as a principle means of evaluation and developing creative strategies.

This course is designed to expand the student’s drawing and painting skills, taking your work into the dimension of collage. This module allows a developmental journey from the process of “drawing with paper” through to collage, printmaking methods and finally on its sculptural assemblage. Re-cycling, re-assembling and re-contextualizing are key elements. Technique workshops and referencing contemporary artists exploring this exciting medium will underpin this course.

We will explore the concepts of and discuss the different methods by which an image is con-structed, and the ideas conveyed. Also nurture a greater understanding of the work of art-ists in the forefront of the Modern movement and the relationship between history and cul-ture.

Come and join me on this memorable course exploring the twentieth century Art through the work of the artists who worked with collage and allow that to develop your own creative art practice too.
