Course Description

This course will assist you to develop skills in your picture making using landscape as a focus and to apply drawing and painting skills to gather information from different sources and process them into a resolved painting.

 We will experiment with different painting and drawing media and you will have the opportunity of experiment with mixed media to create a more personal response to landscapes.

 This course will explore drawing and painting the landscape and the process of picture making, gathering source material out of doors, weather permitting,  gathering visual information. Responses to mood, memories and atmosphere will be encouraged as well as exploring different visual effects and multiple views. The course will cover aspects of colour theory and composition. It will also encourage some experimental responses to discover new ways of working.

 Keeping a sense of freshness from first impressions of seeing the landscape in different atmospheric conditions will be encouraged. We will also look at the work of different artists to inform your own creative development.
