CF300 Natural History Illustration: Mosses, Lichens and Liverworts (2022/2023)

This 5-credit course will take place at the Denmark Farm near Lampeter.

This course will help students to develop an appreciation for Mosses, Lichens and Liverworts and will cover graphite and pen drawing and watercolour painting techniques to depict a variety of the fascinating forms of these lower plants, with accuracy of colour and detail.

This course will help students to develop an appreciation for Mosses, Lichens and Liverworts and will cover graphite and pen drawing and watercolour painting techniques to depict a variety of the fascinating forms of these lower plants, with accuracy of colour and detail. A context of relevant historical and contemporary artists work will be given to support the study online.
This is an ideal course for anyone interested in Natural History, students undertaking field studies courses, as well as art and design courses, and the biological sciences, who wish to develop their knowledge and gain the skills needed to depict their subjects. 
We will also have a short foray to look for specimens in the woodlands on site.
