Course Description

This course is self directed online with tutorial support. Mosaic has been associated with mental health and wellness linked to this art form. The technique and skills require the brain to function on problem solving and block out other worries.

The actual mosaic takes about two days to make, but this module gives you all the planning, purchasing and design advice, so therefore you have longer to conceive the idea with tutorial support. This should take 50 hours in total and is taught through video demonstrations as units of work are set out in a methodical way. Students will be making a small plaque on a wooden substrate to create a mosaic and learn about the history of mosaics. You will be using the technique of pique assiette and Roman techniques and will be encouraged to add found objects within your mosaic.
