Course Description

This module aims to introduce the principles of botany that have a direct relevance to environmental studies and gardening in particular, giving the learner knowledge and understanding of plants and their responses to gardening practice. It focuses on plant structure and function, giving an understanding and scientific basis of plant growth, development and gardening practices. It forms an excellent basis for progress on to more specific areas of scientific study, particularly the core modules of ecology, plant diversity and plant identification but is also an excellent module for members of the general public interested in botany or gardening. This is an optional Level 0 module for the CHE.
