Through examining and reflecting on the processes of planning, organising, and managing engineering projects, this microcredential will explore a range of mangement models, and planning tools and techniques. We will apply these to the design, planning, cost control and management of given project scenarios.

This open access module is designed to provide an introduction to Plant Breeding.

CQFW Level 7 - Masters Level

The microcredential will begin by exploring the key aspects of breeding self-pollinated plants and compare a range of breeding systems for these species. We will then focus on breeding cross pollinated species and compare breeding systems for these. We will assess the effect of polyploidy in plants and how induction of polyploidy may be used in plant breeding programs. Finally we will also look at the principle of employing interspecific and intergeneric hybridization in breeding and its utilisation in a range of breeding programmes

This 3rd microcredential in the Plant Breeding set provides the knowledge that you will need to design, plan and set up a plant breeding programme. The module begins with Experimental Design, Trait Measurement & Resource Management before looking in detail at routes to commercialising a new variety.
