Course Description

This module is designed to give an introduction to creating ephemeral installations in the environment, using what can be found in the environment. Students will explore the woodlands, the river banks and the beaches around Aberystwyth providing a unique environment in which to create. The module aims to develop awareness of the discipline within a range of contextual discourses, exploring the wider historical perspective of artist response to nature, landscape and recent political/social/scientific developments in understanding the environment. Students will work individually and in groups and will develop their aesthetic and conceptual responses their understanding of place and the qualities of natural materials.
