Course Description

Wildflowers are an amazing subject to focus on in more detail, they are varied in their colours, habitats and are a vital area of the eco-system.
This 5-credit blended module is suitable for beginners in watercolour and drawing techniques within Natural History Illustration and for students who wish to hone their observational drawing and painting skills and create accurate paintings with fine detail and accurate colours.
In this Module you will be creating a hand-painted guide to your own local Wildflowers. There will also be colour mixing and form drawing techniques with ideas for composition. There will be presentations and discussions on the importance of Wildflowers within their ecosystem to give you ideas for composition and research.

There will also be a two-day face to face portion of the course to be held at Ynyslas Nature Reserve on the 5^th and 6^th of July 2024 from 11-3 where further techniques will be explored and gives you a chance to work with your tutor and fellow students, researching and painting Wildflowers in beautiful surroundings. This in-person portion of the course is a compulsory portion of the course, so ensure you make your travel plans early. Why not make it into a relaxing creative break?

This blended module will also contain various step by step demonstrations of techniques with useful hints and information to create your own Wildflower guide accessible through our online portal to use again and again.
