CA106 Seas and Skies in Watercolour (2026/2027)

This Level One module aims to introduce students to the subject area and to learning at higher education level. This is a practical watercolour module, it introduces the student to the different techniques of watercolour with an emphasis on the local surroundings of seascapes and skies.

Course Description

This Level One module aims to introduce students to the subject area and to learning at higher education level. This is a practical watercolour module, it introduces the student to the different techniques of watercolour with an emphasis on the local surroundings of seascapes and skies. Drawing, painting, evaluative and comparative study skills will be taught in an informal way. An extended project will include the drawing of boats and it's related perspective drawing. The module will also include the study of contemporary painters and painters in history who choose to represent the subject in different ways.

Seas and Skies in Watercolour can be studied as a stand-alone course and is an optional course for the Certificate of Higher Education in Art and Design at Aberystwyth University.
