CA110 Natural History Illustration: Kitchen Garden (2026/2027)

Delivery method: In person teaching in the Milford Building, Gogerddan, on Tuesday the 3rd and Tuesday the 24th of November, 10.30am to 3pm.

This 5-credit module is suitable for beginners in watercolour techniques within Natural History Illustration and students who wish to hone their observational and painting skills and depict accurate paintings with fine detail.

Course Description

This 5-credit module is suitable for beginners in watercolour techniques within Natural History Illustration and students who wish to hone their observational and painting skills and depict accurate paintings with fine detail. The module will cover drawing and watercolour painting techniques to depict a variety of fruit and vegetable forms, with accuracy of colour and detail. The artwork of historical and contemporary artists will be presented and discussed within the learning units. This would be suitable for students who are keen gardeners, food bloggers and those who have limited access to their locality. 

Natural History Illustration: The Kitchen Garden can be studied as a stand-alone course. It is also an optional course for the Certificate of Higher Education in Natural History Studies and in Art and Design at Aberystwyth University.
