This course will help students to develop an appreciation for fungi, learning about their amazing diversity of form, their habitats and how to identify them.

Course Description

This course will help students to develop an appreciation for fungi, learning about their amazing diversity of form, their habitats and how to identify them. The module will cover observational drawing in graphite, charcoal and pen, and watercolour techniques to depict a variety of fungi species and forms, with accuracy of colour and detail. A context of relevant historical and contemporary artists work will be given to support the study.

Natural History Illustration: Fungi can be studied as a stand-alone course. It is also an optional course for the Certificate of Higher Education in Natural History Studies and in Art and Design at Aberystwyth University.
