This course is aimed at absolute beginners and will introduce students to the Greek language and culture while developing all four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Course Description

This course is aimed at absolute beginners and will introduce students to the Greek language and culture while developing all four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The module will equip students with a very basic knowledge of the countries where Greek is spoken and encourage their curiosity about the language, the country, the people, their environment, society, traditions and culture. It will enable the student to reach a level of very basic competence in the four main areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The student will acquire basic language skills, to enable students to:

• Introduce themselves and greet people.
• Socialize (where are you from, where do you live, what language do you speak)
• Answer simple questions about family and job.
• Ask questions: “What is this? What is that?” “Who is he/she”?
• Ask the price of something, understand amounts, using the Euro €
• Count and do simple sums
• Talk about their age and enquiry about other people’s age
• Understand basic directions and ask for help to understand.(Can you say it more slowly? I didn’t understand)
• Ask what facilities are available and how to find them
• Understand some basic customs and traditions.
