Course Description

This 20 credit course is spread over two terms beginning on the 29th of October and ending on the 11th of March 2026. We will meet 10 times and there will be 40 hours of face-to-face teaching time included in the course, double our usual course length.

The course is aimed at students who want to develop their ceramic work and to push onto another level in its development or even to get work ready to exhibit. Or for students who really want to be engaged with their creative work over a long period of time. The wide brief allows for the development of work to follow one’s creative interests and will be similar to an art college project encouraging experimentation leading towards a creative conclusion.

Course outcomes of the ceramic work can be broad in context from the traditional craft of vessel making to experimental sculpture, etc. You determine your final work that could potentially be suitably exhibited in a gallery space, on either the wall, the plinth or be placed in another interior context of your choosing.

The development of your own creative ideas will be the starting point of the course and you will be encouraged to research contemporary makers and develop your ideas as part of the course. The aim will be the development of your own ideas and work outcomes.

The course will be 40 hours in the studio but you will be encouraged to develop your ideas outside of the making time to get the best outcomes for this course.

Come and join us in this friendly, interesting, supportive course, which will help take your creativity onto the next level. Tuition will be tailored to the individual.
