Course Description

This online module provides an introduction to the art of Botanical Illustration with a heavy emphasis on drawing from observation. The history of botanical illustration, scientific techniques and terminology will be explored, thus giving the student an insight into and understanding of species and the structure of plants.

Botanical Illustration 1 can be studied as a stand-alone course. It is also a core course for the Certificate of Higher Education in Natural History Studies and an optional course for Art and Design at Aberystwyth University.
