Course Description

Popular culture is all about the vertebrates. Cute pandas and foxes will always steal the limelight. But what about invertebrates? There many more invertebrate species than vertebrates, and much more diversity. This course will take you through the different classifications of invertebrates along with examples of species and how they live. We’ll look at sea creatures like octopus, sea urchins, crabs and jellyfish. You’ll learn about nematode parasites (microscopic worms), insects, centipedes and flat worms. There is a vast amount of animals to discover and we’ll only scratch the surface. You’ll also learn how to identify and classify invertebrates, so if you see an invertebrate, you can work out what it might be and how it might live.
