Course Description

Learners will familiarise with plant features and relate to evolution of the Plant Kingdom. Learners will develop skills to meticulously record observed features using classical floras, keys, AI tools and use open data and other resources. Learners will also curate and create resources that will aid their professional prospects alongside building interest in furthering their career in ecology, or as hobby.

Learning to use essential resources and key terminology specific to their domain are essential and valuable skills for field and conservation ecologists, as plants are used to define habitats in relation to other biotic and abiotic factors and are at the centre of all ecological work.

Encouraging conversations with co-learners, creating and sharing resources and exploring surroundings, this module focuses on developing practical skills and applying knowledge alongside expressing and challenging opinions and beliefs.

Assessment is based on the digital portfolio and quizzes embedded in the module units.

Course format: Blended learning resources, integrated workshops, use of digital tools and field work at a site of your choice.
