Course Description

This course is for you if you have attended Japanese Intermediate or similar or have a good command of Japanese and want to re-activate and build upon your comprehension and expression.

The module will equip students with a very basic knowledge of the countries where Japanese is spoken and encourage their curiosity about the language, the country, the people, their environment, society, traditions and culture. It will enable the student to reach a level of very basic competence in the four main areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The student will acquire basic language skills, to enable students to:

• Discuss traditional culture and entertainment; sumo, kabuki, shodoo, karate, etc.
• Discuss in a family or friends with plain form
• How to address people
• Clothes
• Japanese New Year
• Holiday planning together
• Road and traffic
• Opinion
