From war memorials to memorial gardens, plaques to statues, placenames to public buildings; memorials come in many different forms.  They surround us and shape our identities and communities as much as we shape them.  Learn about the history of Wales by examining a range of iconic memorials.  During the course you will be given the skills, opportunities and resources to research memorials in your local area and the individuals and stories behind them.  From statues of slavery to graffiti, this course will explore the debates and controversies surrounding memorials that tell us as much about our present-day societies as those of the past.  You will also develop practical skills in heritage interpretation, research, debate and communication.
